| DON OLIVER - THE COMRADES COACH�
� Don Oliver has himself run 19 Comrades finishing with two Silvers and 17 bronze of which 8 were sub 9hours.In 1980, he started the Comrades Panel Talks in Johannesburg, a series of six, monthly meetings designed to help novices run their first Comrades. They are still going strong. Probably 6000 runners got their first medal as a result of these highly motivational talks assisted by medical and elite runners. Don was awarded the Platinum Medal by the Comrades Marathon Association in 1999 as a token for his efforts in �The Spirit of Comrades�. More lately Don has been writing monthly articles for �Runner�s World� to provide a Comrades training programme for runners throughout the country. Last year he joined the Comrades Road Show, giving talks around the country on behalf of the CMA to help entrants complete their training programmes and provide final race day advice.
