MENS ROUND OF 96 TO BE COMPLETEDDURBAN, South Africa (Thursday, 5 July, 2007) – The remaining ten heats of the Men`s Round of 96 will be completed at Durban`s New Pier this morning, with seven South Africans yet to surf in the first round of prize money, at the 6-Star ASP World Qualifying Series Mr Price Pro.
Ryan Payne (St Francis Bay) takes to the water in the first heat of the day, which will be followed by the much anticipated clash between WQS No. 1 Jordy Smith (Umbilo), former ASP World Tour campaigner Russel Winter (GBR), Hodei Collazo (Spain) and wildcard Gavin Roberts (Scottburgh) in the next heat, Heat 16.
Former South African Champion Quinton Jones (Cape Town) faces a tough set of competitors in Heat 21, where he takes on ASP World No. 8 Kai Ottan (Aus), World no 12 Jeremy Flores (France) and WQS No. 2 Tiago Pires (Portugal).
Damien Fahrenfort (Durban) features against WQS No. 5 Kirk Flintoff (Aus), and former ASP World Junior Champions Pablo Paulino (Brz) and Kekoa Becalso (Haw) in Heat 22; while World No. 9 Travis Logie (Durban) and Wildcard Clinton Gravett (East London) take on Shaun Ward (USA) and Aritz Aranburu (Spain) in the last Men’s heat today.
The Women`s Round of 48 will get underway just after 12h00, with Heats 1 – 10 completed today.
