About Ballito

Considered the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast, Ballito lies just 30 minutes north of Durban. Nestled between rippling fields of sugar cane and flanked by golden beaches and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean to its east, Ballito is the Pearl of the North Coast.

The town's origins date back to 1953, when a group of entrepreneurs began investigating land to develop a township. In 1954 the township of Ballito was born, it's name inspired by a magazine advertisement meaning "Little Ball", but it wasn't until 1966 that it became a town board. The town reached borough status in 1986, and has since been well known for its superb, safe beaches and splendid surroundings.

Ballito's friendly, village atmosphere is a welcome haven from the fast pace of big city life, yet it offers all the modern amenities and services to residents and holidaymakers alike.
