Parko's perfect comeback

Joel Parkinson has been out of action for more than 6 months and has had an amazing comeback with a win at the Reef Hawaiian Pro, a Prime event held at Haliewa on the North Shore of Oahu Hawaii. This is the first event of the prestigious Triple Crown of Surfing and Parko has taken the lead as he destroyed the final leaving the other the finalist in need of a combination of 2 scores to take out Parkinson as he styled through every heat with perfect and near perfect rides and then totally dominating the final.

Runner up in the event was 2009 winner Joel Centeio. Centeio is a local at Haliewa and has proven very dangerous out there! 3rd place was Ozzy superstar Julian Wilson who has now moved up to 41st on the ratings and a solid result in the O’Neill World Cup of surfing at Sunset Beach could see him into the top 32 and Qualify for next years dream tour. Forth place went to Australian Heath Joske and with 3 out of the four finalists from Australia, it shows their dominance in World surfing.

Shaun Joubert from Mossel Bay was South Africa’s best performer surfing through a few great rounds before getting knocked out in the round of 64 for a 49th place finish.

Travis Logie had a shocker by his standards getting knocked out in his first round of surfing. Travis has now slipped to 36th on the ratings and has two events to get a great result in order to break into the top 32, the O’Neill World Cup and the infamous Billabong Pro at Pipeline.

The O’Neill World Cup starts on Wednesday 24 November and runs until the 6 December. South Africans in the event include Jordy Smith who missed the Reef Hawaiian Pro will be number one seed for the event, Travis Logie, Royden Bryson and Rudy Palmboom. Shaun Joubert is number 9 alternate for the event.
